Job Description

About the Department

A Career & Technical Education (CTE) middle school teacher performs under the general direction of the building principal or program manager  with assistance from appropriate staff personnel and district CTE staff. A CTE teacher fosters and enhances an effective and safe learning environment; facilitates the development or revision of approved CTE curriculum and instructional materials; establishes learning objectives and standards based upon general District guidelines and Washington State Career & Technical Education Program Standards; provides instruction, counsels, disciplines, and supervises to meet the individual needs of assigned students; and, to evaluate student performance and progress.

  • Demonstrate the ability to design, facilitate and evaluate effective student learning in a safe environment based on CTE approved curriculum frameworks??

  • Implement the CTE standards for specific CTE program including:  practicing work place ethics and emulating workplace standards, student leadership, employability and connecting with specific related industry

  • Collaborate with all relevant building activities and professional learning communities, district, area/region and state

  • Perform documentation and recordkeeping duties required by school, district and state

  • Provide learning opportunities for students to connect with family, community, business and government

  • Promote CTE program and recruit students, speakers, industry partners

  • Participate in CTE pathway/program advisory committees

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage lab and equipment where appropriate
  • Follows safety standards for program area
  • Attends CTE pathway/program and all staff district meetings
  • Other duties as assigned as fair share within building assignment

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:
BA or BS in Education and/or Career & Technical Education Certification

CERTIFICATION & LICENSES:
CTE Certification with appropriate endorsements for program area
First Aid and CPR certification

PREFERRED:
CTE Certification with appropriate endorsements for program area
First Aid and CPR certification
Food Handlers Permit where appropriate:  Human Development, Food & Nutrition, Marketing, Pro-Start

CLEARANCES:
OSPI Professional Practices, Fingerprinting--Washington State and FBI
