Job Description

Are you passionate about optimizing transportation logistics and seeking a dynamic role in the forestry industry? We are looking for a dedicated Harvest Logistics Planner to join our Carolina-Virginia Region of the Southern Timberlands business. Based in New Bern, NC, you will report to the Region Transportation Manager and play a crucial role in identifying and implementing the most cost-effective methods to transport logs. If you have a knack for logistics and a drive for efficiency, we want to hear from you!

Key Functions:

  • Schedule the transport of raw materials via contract haulers
  • Data tracking and retention
  • Maintain constant vigilance of the logger's needs, drivers' whereabouts, and the availability of trucks and truck drivers, which is essential to make the most efficient use of available trucks 
  • Maintain daily communication with contract truck managers, drivers, wood flow managers, harvest managers, and marketing representatives
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to adjust schedules on the fly in order to meet system changes
  • Utilization of logistics computer software/model daily

  • Bachelors degree and 2+ years of logistics experience or Forestry experience 
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals
  • Proven commitment to safety with knowledge of safety processes
  • Ability and willingness to work both independently and as a team member
  • Ability to effectively communicate using telephone, office supplies and equipment
  • Basic understanding of GPS software 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to frequent change, while multi-tasking in fast paced environment
  • General understanding of logging, trucking, and transportation activities
  • General knowledge of operating area and map reading
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work a rotating day shift 
  • Ability to work evenings, holidays and weekends as needed
  • Ability to operate a logistics planning system platform

What We Offer...
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $58,830 - $88,245 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
