Job Description

Summary Performs non-technical processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Operating industrial shredder, extractor, compacter, aerosol puncture device and drum washer
  • Sorting non-hazardous waste, such as batteries, light bulbs and household paint
  • De-packaging and sorting consumer product
  • Pumping bulk liquids into tanks/tankers
  • Loading and unloading trucks using hand carts/barrel carts
  • Participating in Household Hazardous Waste Collections at customer sites occasionally

 

Supervisory Responsibilities  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

Language Skills  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

 

Mathematical Skills  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
