Summary

At Deel, we are building the future of global work.  We are looking for a highly resilient, autonomous Health & Safety Associate to lead our H&S streams across the Americas. This is not a traditional corporate safety role. You will be on the ground floor, building H&S frameworks from scratch, including for high-risk deployments across the Americas. Operating in a hyper-growth, fast-paced environment, you will have real responsibility from day one— driving compliance and ensuring the continued safety of our employees.

Responsibilities

  • Build & Own: Design and implement robust, compliant Health & Safety frameworks, including for deployments into high-risk environments across the Americas.

  • Drive Country Launches: Take immediate responsibility for the H&S aspects of new country launches independently and at speed.

  • Manage Vendors: Oversee and manage regional H&S vendor relationships to ensure exceptional delivery and safety standards on the ground.

  • Ensure Compliance: Monitor compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 45003, and other applicable regulations across the Americas.

  • Assess Risk: Conduct risk assessments and support the creation of preventive measures.

  • Incident Management: Assist in incident reporting, tracking, and root cause analysis to identify trends and recommend improvements.

  • Emergency preparedness: Support emergency preparedness efforts and first aid protocols.

  • Training: Contribute to training material preparation and help facilitate training and awareness initiatives.

  • Reporting: collect and analyse data related to H&S performance and help compile regular reports.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Legal, Legal Operations, HRX, Insurance, and People teams to align safety protocols with broader business operations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.

  • Languages: Must be able to speak English and Spanish fluently (Portuguese are a plus).
    Total Rewards

  • High-Risk Experience: Proven track record managing H&S in high-risk environments. This role requires more than traditional white-collar/corporate safety experience.

  • Scale-Up DNA: Previous experience thriving in fast-paced, hyper-growth tech environments (e.g., scale-ups, high-pressure logistics, or operations).

  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep technical H&S knowledge with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks across the Americas.

  • Autonomous & Resilient: A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to roll up your sleeves, operate independently, and navigate heavy volumes and unpredictable demands.

  • Technical Aptitude: Experience with operational process improvement, data tracking, and modern AI technologies. Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 45003 is highly preferred.

  • Work Environment: Comfortable working cross-functionally in a high-intensity, global, remote-first environment. Must be based in the Americas
