PURPOSE


 


The Columbia Public School District is seeking a Health Assistant. 


 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


 


The Health Assistant will be responsible for the following:



  • Providing first aid, as trained by the Health Services staff

  • Administering medication

  • Communicating effectively with others (students, parents, teachers, etc.)

  • Managing student health records, as trained by Health Services staff

  • Understanding and adhering to Board policies and procedures

  • Performing other duties as requested by the school nurse


If hired



  • Employee must participate in the annual First Aid Provider training, provided at the beginning of each school year.

  • Employee must participate in Emergency First Aid training the first year of employment.

  • Employee must participate in CPR/AED certification.


 


Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

Reports To:       Director of Health Services, and School Nurse

QUALIFICATIONS


 


Education:  High school diploma 


Other:  Must be organized, be able to prioritize work load and computer literate

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this position an employee must have the ability to Stand, stoop, bend and kneel; Read handwritten or printed material; Frequently lift up to 10 pounds; Grasp, hold, and demonstrate finger dexterity; Reach and raise arms above shoulders and head; The selected applicant must have both close and distance vision. These are essential functions of the job.


 


Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
