Job Description

Position: High School Assistant Principal


Department: Administration


Reports to: High School Principal


Date: Start for the 2026-2027 School Year


 


SUMMARY:


 


Responsible for providing leadership at USCHS in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and student-related matters while working collaboratively with the Principal to support the daily operations of the high school.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Serve and actively participate as a member of the high school leadership team in all aspects, including curriculum and instruction

  • Execute and administer School Board Policy and administrative regulations

  • Student Focus (includes the following but not limited to):


    • Develop, implement and administer student discipline policies, regulations, and guidelines for assigned student body

    • Work with students and collaborate with their families on behavioral and academic issues, including interpreting the school’s program or discuss a student’s progress or conduct

    • Mediate conflict situations – student-student, parent-teacher, etc.

    • Monitor student attendance and enforce compulsory school attendance laws, meet with parents and attend Magistrate hearings, as necessary


  • Professional Staff Focus (includes the following but not limited to):


    • Evaluate teachers through all required evaluation procedures, including classroom observation, and conduct teacher conferences in accordance with District, PDE and CBA policies and procedures

    • Oversee the assignment of students and teachers to the operational schedule

    • Conduct Student Support Team meetings twice a week


  • Administrative Focus (includes the following but not limited to):


    • Serve and actively participate as a member of the District’s administrative leadership team 

    • Participate and contribute in staffing recommendations for the High School, including evaluating staffing levels, hiring candidates, employee relations/disciplinary issues, etc.

    • Work in cooperation with middle school principals in the articulation process

    • Serve as a liaison with the PTSO and other community organizations

    • Coordinate and participate in the development and enhancement of activity programs, extra-curricular activities, including evening events, and school wide student programs (included but not limited to cafeteria, detention room, student lockers, driving/student parking policy, student insurance, community learning)

    • Assist in the completion of required state/local reports, including absence reports

    • Assist in the development/implementation of in-service programs

    • Serve on task groups or committees 

    • Serve as the LEA in IEP, GIEP and 504 plan meetings while working to ensure the implementation of services


  • Operations/Building Focus (includes the following but not limited to):


    • Act as  a liaison to the Operations & Facilities Department and monitor maintenance work requests, including coordinating/monitoring the use and condition of the facility and work collaboratively with operations to resolve concerns 

    • Coordinate building security (internal and external) and HS emergency plan, collaborate with District Safety & Security Dept and Township Police

    • Respond to inquiries and coordinate visits (other schools and community)


  • Other duties as assigned by the principal


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supervise approximately 15-30 teachers and over 20 aides and secretaries. 

  • Collaborate with the District's Chief of Police regarding school police officers and guards

  • Work with Operations & Facilities leadership regarding custodians and maintenance technicians

  • Support the Nutrition Center leadership regarding Nutrition Center Workers

  • Partner with the HR Department regarding recruiting, staffing and employee relations matters.


 


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:



  • PA Teaching  Certification in specific content area, required

  • Masters Degree in Education 

  • Administrative Leadership Program 

  • PA Certification:  Administrator - Principal K-12

  • Two (2) years secondary level professional experience, preferred. 

  • One (1) year of administrative experience, preferred.
