Position Summary

The Miller's Smorgasbord Host/Hostess is responsible for the warm friendly immediate greeting of the guest.  The host position has three different types of positions, which includes greeting guest and coach groups, escorting our guests to their table and the control host position managing the entire flow of guests efficiently.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Perform opening and closing procedures per company guidelines
  • Greet, seat, and present menus to guests
  • Plan ahead to have tables available for reservations
  • Take guest information and quote accurate wait times if tables are not immediately available
  • Knowledge of table availability in section at all times
  • Maintain assigned section to provide efficient table turnover in timely and fair manner
  • Use and update table management computer system as needed
  • Occasionally greet and procedure coach groups to their reserved areas
  • Assist in bussing and setting tables as requested
  • Maintain neat, clean and safe host podium work area
  • Clean, organize, and stock menus at the host area
  • Conduct general restroom cleaning and checks per specs
  • Maintain verbal communication with team members, servers, and management
  • Occasionally communicate with reservations department via phone system
  • Interact with guests as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience
  • Other duties as directed
