Requirements
- The HR Lead at Armory is a foundational role. You will build, own, and evolve the people function as the company scales, from early-stage chaos to disciplined execution.
- This role sits close to the founders and leadership team and requires strong judgement, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to balance empathy with business outcomes. You will be expected to design systems, take hard calls, and stay hands-on.
- This is not a support role. This is a leadership role with accountability.
- 10+ years of overall HR experience, with at least 6–8 years of deep, hands-on recruitment experience
- Proven track record of owning hiring end-to-end across technical, operations, manufacturing, and corporate roles
- Experience building recruitment strategies, pipelines, interview frameworks, and evaluation criteria, not just coordinating interviews
- Hands-on experience building HR systems and processes from scratch or scaling them meaningfully
- Strong working knowledge of Indian labour laws, statutory compliance, PF/ESI, payroll coordination, and contracts
- Ability to handle sensitive conversations, conflicts, exits, and performance issues with clarity and fairness
- Clear, direct communication style, comfortable saying no when needed
- Experience working with defence, aerospace, hardware, or manufacturing-led organisations
- Prior exposure to ESOP structuring, compensation benchmarking, and appraisal cycles
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams
- Having scaled a team from early-stage to growth-stage
- Strong judgement: knowing when to be empathetic and when to be firm
- You are a driver, not a passenger; you take ownership and move things forward without waiting for instructions
- Comfort operating without templates and writing the playbook as you go
- You act today, not tomorrow; speed matters, and you don’t confuse motion with progress
- You believe in building a championship team, not a family; high trust, high standards, and accountability over comfort
- You have a strong bias for bold actions and are comfortable taking calculated risks
- You are deeply mindful of who you hire; every hire raises (or lowers) the bar, and you treat that responsibility seriously
- You actively protect and strengthen Armory’s entrepreneurial, curious, and driven culture as the company scales
- You balance empathy with performance and never shy away from hard calls when required
- Live Project: You will jump straight into a live project as soon as you join. No dummy or test projects.
- State-of-the-Art Tools and Technologies: You will have access to industry-leading software, CRMs, and any other facility required.
- Access to Resources: You name it, we will do everything to get it for you.
- Supportive Team: You will be surrounded by the best minds ready to help you.
- A leadership team: An A-level leadership that values judgement over process theatrics
- An iterative space: Space to experiment, iterate, and course-correct as the company scales
- Working Vibe: A high-ownership culture that prioritises speed, honesty, and outcomes over optics, politics, or performative processes.

Tips
Irrespective of you applying at Armory or not, some of the following tips will definitely help you in your job search.
How to get hired
Targeted Applications: Ensure your application is tailored specifically for the job you're applying for by understanding its requirements and showcasing relevant experiences and skills. Apply for THIS job, not some job.
Quality Over Quantity: Instead of applying to 100 jobs casually, it’s far better to apply to 4 seriously.
Stand out: Most people don’t put any efforts in applying to jobs, their applications look exactly the same. It’s easy to stand out from them just by putting a little effort and showcasing your relevant experience and interest for the said job.
If you cover letter starts with _“Honestly, I possess all the skills and experience that you’re looking for”_, then you are not going to make it.
In fact, we wrote a long thread on all the ways you will NOT get hired. https://x.com/singhamardeep/status/1459114743398998018?s=46 We highly recommend you to read it.
