Burton Center is looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) Human Resources Administrative Assistant to add to our dynamic team!
The Finance Operations Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the day‑to‑day accounting operations of the Finance Department, helping to ensure accuracy, organization, and financial integrity across the organization. This position assists with the preparation of financial reports as requested by the Finance Director and provides essential support to Staff Accountants by maintaining organized records, processing journal entries, and completing general accounting tasks that keep the department running efficiently.

Our organization was created in 1971 to provide essential services to individuals with disabilities and special needs and to offer much needed assistance to their families. Over the last five decades, we have been able to expand our range of services. With locations in Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick, Ware Shoals, and Saluda counties, Burton Center's staff of 325, assists over 500 people. Our services are provided free of charge to those who meet specific eligibility criteria by the South Carolina Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. We offer Day Programs, Residential Services, and Employment Placement Programs.
About the Position
This is a full-time position with hours on Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. This position is located at Burton Center's home office in Greenwood, SC.
This role is an essential part of Burton Center's human resources operations, serving as the first point of contact for individuals, families, staff, and visitors while supporting various programs across the organization.
As the HR Administrative Assistant, your role will be vital in ensuring smooth daily office operations and providing excellent customer service. With a positive and professional attitude, you will answer and screen incoming calls, greet and assist visitors, and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff or departments. You will provide clerical support by typing correspondence, maintaining organized filing systems, handling incoming and outgoing mail, and operating office equipment such as copiers and fax machines. This position also supports staff, individuals, and parents as needed, assists the human resources department with clerical tasks, manages office supply inventory, processes reports and financial documents, and assists with recruiting and onboarding documentation for new staff members. Your attention to detail and strong communication skills will help keep administrative functions accurate, organized, and efficient.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
SC Driver's License
2 years' experience in an office/business environment, Human Resources preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and various computer applications
Ability to bend, stoop, sit, or stand for long periods of time,
Ability to be adaptive, a team player, and advocate for others
Excellent oral and written communication skills
