Human Resources Assistant
Summary:
Under the direction of the Sr. HR Director, the Human Resources (HR) Assistant provides administrative, operational, and compliance support to the Human Resources Department. This position is responsible for maintaining highly confidential employee information, supporting employee lifecycle processes, assisting with onboarding and benefits administration, maintaining personnel records, and ensuring timely completion of HR-related transactions. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional discretion, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, a sense of urgency, and the ability to manage sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality, integrity, discretion and professional judgement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential employee personnel, payroll, medical, and employment records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Process employee status changes, including compensation updates, promotions, transfers, direct deposit changes, tax updates, and other employment-related transactions within HR systems.
- Coordinate onboarding and separation processes, ensuring completion of all required documentation, system updates, and compliance-related tasks.
- Support benefits enrollment activities and conduct routine audits and follow-up to ensure accuracy and timely completion of employee benefit elections.
- Assist with compliance activities including I-9 administration, E-Verify, state new hire reporting, personnel file maintenance, DOT driver qualification files, employment verifications, unemployment claims, and workers' compensation documentation.
- Serve as a resource for employees by answering routine HR, benefits, and policy-related questions and directing more complex matters to appropriate HR leadership
- Assist with HR reporting, data audits, recordkeeping, and maintenance of accurate employee information across multiple systems.
- Coordinate and support company initiatives, events, and projects.
- Other projects and initiatives that drive organizational goals and results.

Education, Certifications & Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required; Some college preferred.
- 2+ years Human Resources or heavy administrative experience
- Experience in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Human Resources statutes, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- This position will work in an office setting but may travel to off-site locations and therefore require wearing PPE depending on circumstance which may include safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, high-visibility safety vest and/or steel toed footwear.

Pay range is between $21.00 and $25.00 per hour, dependent on prior experience.
