Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of all facility electrical systems and automated material handling equipment. This role focuses heavily on maintaining maximum uptime of high-volume conveyor belt networks, sorting systems, scan tunnels, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). The ideal candidate combines strong electrical expertise with a deep commitment to a safety-first culture and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation & Conveyor Support: Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize high-speed conveyor systems, automated sorters, merges, and diverts. Diagnose and repair electrical motor controls, VFDs, photo-eyes, proximity sensors, and limit switches.
- System Diagnostics: Read and interpret electrical schematics, blue prints, and wiring diagrams to trace circuits and isolate faults during critical equipment downtime events.
- PLC Triage: Utilize Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) diagnostics (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) to troubleshoot automated system logic, verify inputs/outputs (I/O), and restore normal system operations.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM): Execute scheduled PM routines on distribution center electrical networks, control panels, transformers, and distribution panels to prevent failure and extend equipment lifecycle.
- Facility Electrical Support: Maintain, repair, and install facility electrical infrastructure, including high-output overhead lighting, backup generators, charging stations, and branch circuits up to 480V 3-Phase.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA guidelines, National Electrical Code (NEC), and company-specific Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash safety protocols. Maintain a pristine, organized workspace.
- Data Integrity: Document all maintenance actions, parts usage, and labor hours accurately within the facility’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Qualifications & Redefined Performance Standards
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical school certificate or completion of a certified electrical apprenticeship program is highly preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of industrial electrical experience, ideally within a high-volume fulfillment center, manufacturing plant, or large-scale distribution facility.
- Technical Skills:
- Proven proficiency with 480V 3-phase power distribution and motor control circuits.
- Direct experience troubleshooting complex conveyor architectures (e.g., MDR, lineshaft, belted systems).
- Basic to intermediate familiarity with PLC hardware configuration and software diagnostics.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding, work at elevated heights, and stand/walk for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
