About the Department

The IT Business Analyst III performs the following functions (two vacancies):
SQL Development, Data Analysis, and Reporting Support - Develops, maintains, and modifies SQL queries, reports, and stored procedures to support administrative systems, business operations, and data-informed decision-making. Reviews data structures, output, and reporting logic for accuracy and usability. Assists departments in translating operational needs into reliable data solutions.
Business Analysis and System Support - Analyzes requests from departments and functional users to determine business needs, system requirements, and appropriate technical solutions. Reviews application issues to determine whether the cause relates to user process, system process, data integrity, software defect, configuration, or other operational factors. Collaborates with IT staff, business partners, vendors, and data owners to identify, test, and implement effective resolutions.
System Enhancements, Upgrades, and Process Improvement - Works with business partners and technical staff to implement new system features, services, upgrades, and configuration changes. Explores available system functionality and evaluates opportunities to simplify, streamline, or improve business processes. Participates in the analysis of current and proposed business practices to maximize the effectiveness of automated methods.
Documentation, Training Materials, and User Guidance - Prepares and maintains documentation, user guides, procedures, and related materials to support consistent and effective use of administrative systems. Provides guidance to users regarding system processes, procedures, reporting tools, and business workflows.
Security Role and Access Support – Consults with management, data owners, and functional stakeholders to define, maintain, and review business security roles and system access. Supports appropriate access controls by helping ensure that user permissions align with business needs, institutional procedures, and data security expectations.
Position Duties
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
- At least four years of experience in business systems analysis, application support, ERP or administrative systems support, SQL query or report development, system implementation or upgrade support, documentation, or user support.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise administrative systems in a higher education, public sector, or similarly complex organization.
- Experience developing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, reports, data extracts, or data validation processes within an ERP, student information system, or other enterprise administrative system.
- Experience supporting system upgrades, testing, configuration changes, new functionality, or vendor-supported application implementations.
Other Qualifications
