Build Connections. Support Projects. Grow Datacom Sales.

--------

We’re Hiring a Datacom Inside Sales Representative – Clarksburg, WV

State Electric Supply Co. is looking for a Datacom Inside Sales Representative to join our Clarksburg, WV branch. This is a great opportunity for someone who understands — or wants to grow in — the world of structured cabling, fiber, copper, low-voltage systems, network infrastructure, security-related products, and contractor-focused sales support.

This is not a data entry role. This is a customer-facing, sales-focused position where product knowledge, follow-through, urgency, and relationship-building matter every day.

At State Electric, our inside sales team plays a major role in helping contractors, integrators, end users, and outside sales representatives find the right products, build accurate quotes, track orders, solve problems, and keep projects moving.

Your Mission: Help Customers Get the Right Datacom Solutions

As our Datacom Inside Sales Representative, you’ll serve as a key contact for customers who rely on State Electric for datacom and low-voltage product support. You’ll handle customer inquiries, prepare quotes, process orders, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and help grow our
datacom business in the Clarksburg market.

You’ll be part salesperson, part problem-solver, part project support, and part trusted resource for customers who need accurate information and dependable service.

 What Success Looks Like

 In this role, you’ll:

Support datacom customers with urgency and accuracy
Respond to customer calls, emails, and in-person requests involving structured cabling, fiber/copper connectivity, racks, cabinets, pathway, security-related products, and other datacom solutions.

Prepare quotes and follow up on opportunities
Build accurate quotes, follow up on open opportunities, support bid activity, and help convert customer needs into sales.

Partner with outside sales and branch leadership
Work closely with outside sales representatives, the Store Manager, vendors, purchasing, warehouse, and logistics teams to support customers from quote through delivery.

 Help grow the datacom business
Identify opportunities to up-sell, cross-sell, develop new accounts, reactivate inactive customers, and bring attention to products or solutions customers may not know we offer.

 Keep projects moving
Track orders, communicate backorders or delivery updates, coordinate product availability, and help customers stay ahead of jobsite needs.

Build strong customer relationships
Earn trust through responsiveness, product knowledge, professionalism, and a willingness to help customers solve problems.

What You Bring to the Table

We’re looking for someone who has:

Experience in inside sales, counter sales, customer service, electrical distribution, datacom, low-voltage, telecom, security, networking, or contractor supply.

Strong communication skills and a customer-first approach.

Technical aptitude and a willingness to learn datacom products, applications, vendors, and systems.

The ability to manage multiple quotes, orders, calls, emails, and customer priorities in a fast-paced branch environment.

Confidence asking good questions, following up, and helping move opportunities forward.

Strong attention to detail when preparing quotes, entering orders, and coordinating customer needs.

Comfort using Microsoft Office and business systems; ERP/CRM experience is a plus.

Datacom, structured cabling, fiber, copper, low-voltage, telecom, security, AV, networking, electrical distribution, contractor sales, or BICSI-related experience is strongly preferred, but we’re also open to someone with the right sales mindset and technical curiosity.

 Why State Electric?
