Position: Interim Athletic Director – Fall Season

Summary:
The Interim Athletic Director will oversee the daily operations of the Hudson High School Athletic Department to help cover a leave of absence. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful operation of all fall athletic programs while maintaining compliance with MIAA and district policies.

This interim position is due to start August 17th, 2026 for approximately 6-10 weeks. Date is subject to change. This position also has the potential of oversight of the Quinn Middle School sports.

This position will be paid $800 per week during weeks actually worked(regardless of hours) The hours for this interim role may vary.

Fall Sports Oversight

Provide administrative oversight and support for all fall athletic programs, including:

- Boys Cross Country

- Girls Cross Country

- Cheerleading

- Dance

- Golf

- Football

- Field Hockey (Guest School in a Cooperative Program with Tahanto Regional High School)

- Boys Soccer

- Girls Soccer

- Volleyball

(A total of approximately 16 teams.)

Primary Responsibilities

Daily Athletic Department Operations

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Department.

- Address schedule changes, postponements, cancellations, and rescheduling of contests and practices.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for coaches, officials, transportation, and opposing schools.

Student-Athlete Eligibility & Compliance

- Monitor athletic registrations.

- Ensure all student-athletes have current physical examinations on file.

- Verify completion of required SWAY baseline concussion testing prior to participation.

- Maintain compliance with MIAA and district eligibility requirements.

Financial & Administrative Duties

- Process accounts payable and athletic department invoices.

- Pay officials through Arbiter.

- Maintain accurate schedules and game results within Arbiter.

Transportation

- Review transportation schedules weekly to ensure adequate bus coverage for all contests.

- Coordinate transportation changes as needed.

- Fuel the athletic department minibus at the Department of Public Works (DPW) for golf matches and, when necessary, sub-varsity contests.

- Schedule the required September oil change for the athletic department minibus.

Athletic Trainer Supervision

- Provide day-to-day supervision and support for the school's Athletic Trainer.

- Coordinate communication between coaches and the Athletic Trainer regarding coverage and student-athlete needs.

Field & Facility Management

- Provide day-to-day supervision and support for the Field Liner.

- Oversee the work of the Field Liner.

- If a Field Liner has not been hired, line and maintain approximately seven athletic practice and competition fields on a regular basis throughout the fall season.

Game Management

- Coordinate and supervise home athletic contests.

- Schedule and communicate with all home game staff.

- Send weekly assignments and schedule updates for the following week's:

- Home game staff

- Transportation

- Athletic event coverage

Scheduling & Communication

- Ensure all contest schedules remain current.

- Confirm each week that contests, officials, facilities, and transportation are properly coordinated.

- Communicate schedule updates promptly with coaches, officials, schools, transportation providers, and game personnel.

- Maintain regular communication with district administration, coaches, and parents.

- Respond promptly to issues as they arise to ensure smooth daily operations.

- Promote a positive, safe, and well-organized athletic environment for all student-athletes and coaches.

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
