Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and design-oriented mid-level commercial Interior Designer to lead and support the design and execution of projects from programming through construction administration. This individual will demonstrate a strong balance of creative design thinking, technical expertise, and project coordination, while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

 

Responsibilities:

Design

  • Lead and contribute to programming efforts, space planning, and interior layouts, including furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), lighting design, and material/color selection
  • Develop and evolve comprehensive design concepts aligned with client goals, project vision, and firm standards
  • Research design requirements, trends, materials, and emerging industry innovations
  • Prepare programming documentation, space plans, and area calculations to evaluate project needs
  • Develop presentation materials including renderings, mood boards, and client-facing design packages
  • Present design concepts to clients and participate in project interviews and presentations
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate interior design with architectural and engineering systems
  • Select, specify, and coordinate furniture and oversee installation
  • Manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment

 

Technical

  • Utilize industry-standard software to produce design and documentation deliverables, including:
    • Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Prepare detailed construction documents, including plans, elevations, and details
  • Prepare redline revisions and update drawing sets accordingly
  • Coordinate with consultants including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety teams
  • Perform construction administration duties, including site visits and coordination with contractors
  • Review and respond to shop drawings and submittals
  • Apply knowledge of interior design standards, specifications, and BOMA calculations
  • Maintain accuracy and quality control across all technical documentation

 

Management & Collaboration

  • Mentor and support junior staff in design development and technical execution
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary project teams and consultant efforts
  • Manage work within established project budgets and schedules
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
  • Demonstrate a collaborative, professional, and proactive approach to teamwork

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, Architecture, or related field
  • 5–6 years of commercial interior design experience (workplace, federal, healthcare, or similar project types)
  • Strong understanding of space planning, building systems, and construction documentation
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (architectural and engineering)
  • NCIDQ certification preferred or in progress
  • LEED AP or WELL accreditation a plus

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
