GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Internal Audit Manager / Banking Officer will be responsible for monitoring the auditing functions of the organization funds through reports and onsite review.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
1. Prepare an annual risk-based audit assessment and audit schedule.
2. Provide audit oversight to all areas of the bank, relating to the safety and soundness of the Bank.
3. Report to and provide support to the Board of Directors Audit Committee.
4. Coordinate audits performed by external auditors and regulators.
5. Prepare monthly reports on audits performed for the Board of Director reports.
6. Maintain a schedule of outstanding audit exceptions and follow-up until resolved.
7. Assist Department Supervisors/Managers with any problem(s) that affect the safety and soundness of the Bank.
8. Member of the IT Committee, Compliance Committee, and Enterprise Risk Management Committee. This duty is performed as often as the Committees meet. Will also attend the Executive Committee and the ALCO Committee.
9. Perform all other duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
1. Must be knowledgeable in the use of complex office machines and equipment, (i.e. desktop/laptop computers and software, calculators, copiers, scanners, etc.; regular use of desktop computer and related banking software.)
2. Possess high skill level with Microsoft products, specifically Excel, WORD, Outlook and the Internet; basic skills using 10-key, alpha-numeric data entry and databases.
3. Must possess excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work. Must pay attention to detail.
4. Communication Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
5. Mathematical Skills: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.
6. Critical Thinking Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
7. Supervision Received: Under administrative direction, setting up own standard of performance. Virtually self-supervising.
8. Planning: Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition to the work operations of a group of employees all performing basically the same type of work.
9. Accuracy: Probable errors would normally not be detected in succeeding operations and may have serious effects in relationships with patrons and/or with the operations of other segments of the organization. Frequent possibilities of error would exist at all times, since the above-mentioned areas are inherent in the job.
10. Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
11. Decision-Making: Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of small organizational component and the organization’s clientele.
12. Mental Demand: Intense mental demand. Operations requiring substantial directed thinking to analyze, solve or plan highly variable, administrative, professional or technical tasks involving complex problems or mechanisms.
13. Analytical Ability / Problem-Solving: Oversight. Activities covered by expansive policies and objectives, and oversight as to execution and review. High order of analytical, interpretive and constructive thinking in varied situations covering multiple areas of the organization.
14. Employee Contact: Frequent contact with other departments and with individuals in mid-level positions; Consulting on problems which necessitate judgment and tact in presentation to obtain cooperation and approval of action to be taken. Maintain important contacts with associates as required in advanced supervisory jobs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally required to reach with their hands and arms and occasionally stand, walk, climb or balance; may occasionally lift, move, push or pull up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. This is an indoor position and the noise level in the work area is usually moderate. There are no harmful environmental conditions that are present for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
4-year college degree in Accounting or equivalent on-the-job experience, resulting in a broad knowledge of a field related to this job, such as accounting, marketing, finance, business administration, etc. plus five (5) years’ related experience and/or training and three (3) years’ related management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors for FDICIA and Regulatory purposes. For administrative purposes, this position reports to the Chief Risk Officer. The Chief Risk Officer reports to the COO / Wichita Falls Market President, who reports directly to the President / CEO of American National Bank & Trust.
