The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial operations. This position is responsible for managing core accounting functions, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
This role serves as a bridge between transactional accounting and financial oversight, providing guidance to junior staff while partnering closely with the CFO on financial reporting and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and adjustments
- Assist with and help lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for key balance sheet accounts
- Support preparation of internal financial statements and management reports
- Analyze variances and provide insight into trends and fluctuations
- Assist in maintaining consistency and accuracy in financial reporting
- Provide oversight and support to Accounts Payable processes
- Review coding, approvals, and payment runs for accuracy and compliance
- Manage accounting operations for inventory and purchase order processes
- Serve as a resource to AP staff for questions and issue resolution
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies
- Assist in developing and documenting accounting procedures
- Support external audits by preparing schedules and responding to requests
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Sales tax processing and filing and other regulatory filings as instructed
- Partner with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and reporting
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, or process initiatives as needed
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP; experience with month-end close and financial reporting, and compliance; experience with QuickBooks Online or similar financial systems preferred; experience in the telecommunications industry, including regulatory and compliance considerations, is a plus; strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders.
