Gleeson is hiring experienced Ironworkers for a large-scale food facility expansion at Fareway Stores in Boone, Iowa. This project includes structural steel for a freezer and dock addition, requiring precision, safety, and coordination in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented mindset and willingness to assist with other construction tasks when steel work is complete or limited.

$23–$32/hour DOE + Overtime Opportunities Available

WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON

• Structural steel framing for freezer and dock facilities
• Steel systems supporting 36’ clear height structures
• Installation of bar joists, joist girders, and roof decking
• Equipment support steel, platforms, and crossovers
• Work that requires tight coordination with other trades (refrigeration, mechanical, electrical)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read and interpret drawings, layouts, and erection plans
• Erect and align structural steel, columns, beams, and joists
• Install metal roof deck and miscellaneous steel
• Bolt, weld, and secure steel components to specification
• Work with crane operators to safely rig and set steel members
• Ensure all work meets alignment, elevation, and quality standards
• Maintain a safe job site and follow all safety procedures
• Assist with other field activities as needed to support overall project progress

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to assist with other construction tasks when steel work is complete or limited
• Experience in commercial or industrial steel erection
• Ability to work at heights and handle structural steel safely
• Strong understanding of rigging, signaling, and load control
• Ability to read plans and work with minimal supervision
• Team players who take pride in quality workmanship and safety

REQUIREMENTS

• Prior ironworker experience required
• Welding certification preferred/required (based on scope)
• Ability to lift to 75 lbs.
• Must follow all safety guidelines
• Pre-employment drug screen and physical required
