The IT/AV Technician II supports audiovisual and distance learning services to technology end-users (desktop, labs, and/or classrooms) with a primary focus on instructional technology. The IT/AV Technician II is a point of contact for audiovisual support for college functions including (but not limited to) classroom support, conference center support, miscellaneous ceremonies, faculty support/projects, student projects and college-supported community sponsored affairs, in addition to serving as second level audiovisual/distance learning systems maintenance/troubleshooter. The individual in this position assists in the management and coordination of the technical aspects of the college’s Microsoft Teams and Zoom networks. Additionally, the IT/AV Technician II assists in the maintenance efforts by scheduling, overseeing and performing the required steps to keep all systems operating at peak performance, troubleshoots the systems down to component level and ensures that there are adequate replacement parts to return the systems to full functionality.

The hiring salary for this position will be from the min to mid-point of the salary range advertisedThis position is open until filled.

Position Duties


10% Planning and Design


  • Assist the IT/AV Manager in leading the installation effort of a variety of in-classroom electronic display equipment. 
  • Assist the Instructional Technology Support Manager in developing plans for integrating appropriate improvements into existing and future systems.
  • Assist in the research, design and development of audio-visual system requirements for all new and renovated Capitol Projects.
  • Assist in the management and coordination of audiovisual, distance learning, and instructional technology projects assigned to the Technology Support Services Department

50% Technical Support & Troubleshooting


  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair all college audiovisual equipment including Smart Podiums, projection equipment/software. 
  • Receive, inspect, and assemble all new audiovisual equipment and add the equipment to the appropriate inventory. 
  • Assist in training end users to properly operate audiovisual and Zoom equipment.
  • Serve as initial A/V escalation to other technicians

40% Event Support


  • Support internal and external events that utilize the College’s audiovisual technology.
  • Coordinate with other College departments to ensure event A/V requirements are communicated and met.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent trade school training in a computer/technology related field 
  • Minimum two years’ experience supporting Microcomputer’s and associated technologies in a Help Desk/ Technical Customer Services in an educational environment.


Preferred Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent trade school training in a computer/technology related field 

Other Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 


  • Working knowledge of desktop computer operating systems and the ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair desktop PCs and peripherals.  
  • Knowledge of audiovisual systems (especially control and digital audio/video systems) and the ability to maintain and repair audiovisual equipment desired.
  • Excellent communications (written and oral), customer service and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to adapt quickly to rapidly changing technology.
  • Ability to translate technical terms for non-technical persons.
  • Experience in a technical team environment, preferably as a team leader or supervisor.
  • Experience providing end-user training and teaching experience desired.
  • Must maintain insurability for vehicle use under the college vehicle liability insurance plan.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


The work is light work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.
