Position Overview

The IT Field Support Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of Nexus Cooperative’s technology infrastructure throughout all company locations. This position combines hands-on construction, mechanical aptitude, and technical knowledge to deploy and maintain network cabling, security camera systems, wireless networks, telecommunications equipment, and related technology systems.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in the field, operating independently, and solving problems while supporting technology projects across grain, agronomy, feed, fuel, and administrative facilities. This role requires frequent travel to Nexus locations and work in industrial, agricultural, and office environments.

You will work directly under the IT Director and will function as both a technology and business expert, making decisions that may make an impact on the current and future operations of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Installation and Maintenance – Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain structured cabling, fiber optic, low-voltage, and network infrastructure systems, ensuring reliable connectivity and supporting communications between facilities and operational locations.

Technology Systems Deployment and Support – Perform site surveys and evaluate locations for future technology projects; plan and execute infrastructure installations by interpreting blueprints, facility layouts, and network diagrams; and maintain accurate documentation of equipment, cable runs, and project deliverables

Infrastructure Project Execution and Documentation – Plan and execute technology infrastructure projects by conducting site surveys, interpreting blueprints and network diagrams, documenting installations, and maintaining accurate records of equipment, cable runs, and project deliverables.

Technical Troubleshooting and Operational Support – Diagnose and resolve physical network connectivity issues, support infrastructure-related outages, and assist with workstation deployments, printer installations, and other IT initiatives to ensure reliable technology operations.

Safety, Collaboration, and Continuous Service Excellence – Safely operate hand tools, power tools, trenchers, lifts, ladders, and other equipment required to complete installations while adhering to company safety standards, coordinating with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders, and supporting after-hours maintenance and emergency response activities as needed.
