Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Part-Time Janitor to join our team at Chico Animal Hospital. As a vital member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our facility after business hours and on Saturdays. You will not be involved with handling animals, but may be exposed to dogs, cats, and pocket pets. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises.
Reporting Structure
Directly reports to Office Manager and/or Practice Manager.
Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitization
- Perform routine cleaning tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment for both staff and clients.
- Sanitize and disinfect surfaces in examination rooms, waiting areas, and common spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of the break room area including table and refrigerator.
- Clean sinks in treatment areas, exam rooms, and pharmacy areas.
Trash Removal
- Regularly empty trash and recycling bins, and dispose of waste in accordance with established protocols.
- Pick up trash from outside on hospital grounds, which may include animal waste.
Floor Maintenance
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors to uphold cleanliness standards.
- Attend to spills promptly to prevent accidents.
- Vacuum hospital rugs on a daily basis.
- Strip and polish hospital floors on occasion.
Restroom Maintenance
- Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly to maintain hygiene standards.
- Scrub client and employee toilets and sinks on a daily basis.
- Manage build-up of hard water deposits in client and employee restroom sinks.
Supply Management
- Monitor and replenish toilet paper, toilet seat covers, hand soap dispensers, and hand towel dispensers as needed.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed.
- Report any maintenance or supply needs to the supervisor, including damaged equipment.
Saturday Coverage
- Work on Saturdays to ensure the facility remains clean and presentable over the weekend.
- May be required to work longer shifts on Saturdays to do routine deep cleaning.
Additional Duties
- Replace and monitor inventory of hospital HVAC filters.
- Attends departmental and staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as required or as asked by supervisor.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Previous janitorial or cleaning experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and move equipment and supplies.
- Ability to work evening hours and Saturdays.
Salary Description
$17.50-$19.50/ Hour
