BACKGROUND CHECKS: Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission is a drug-free employer. Drug testing of both current staff and new hires will be conducted. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of Driver’s Record Check, Criminal Background Check, Drug Test, and Employment References.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Keep the daily cleaning schedule given by the Supervisor to ensure the inside of the entire building is clean at all times. This includes the offices, classrooms, all restrooms, hallways, and kitchen and eating areas.
  1. Maintain a safe environment while performing duties.
  1. Clean and maintain work area to adhere to State and Local Health codes and ODJFS Licensing Rules.
  1. Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, clean restrooms, wipe down walls, woodwork, doors, mirrors, some windows, and empty trash to name a few, but the list is not limited to just those duties.
  1. Restock supplies when necessary.
  1. Check supplies for reorder weekly and turn them into Supervisor.
  1. Report needed repairs or problems immediately to the Supervisor.
  1. Check off assigned daily duties form then date & sign the form. Turn in daily to the Supervisor
  1. Performs all duties assigned by Supervisor.
  1. Will be required with prior notice to work flexible hours outside the normal 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. workday on occasion in order to adhere to and stay in compliance with regulations stated within the Head Start Performance Standards.
  1. Responsible for Buffing and Waxing the building floors as assigned by Supervisor.
  1. Assist at the switchboard when necessary.
  1. Assist with the delivery of breakfast, lunch and snacks to classrooms following all USDA guidelines.
  1. Assist in operation of the center in full compliance with the Ohio Heartland CAC Head Start Child Positive Behavior Support Policy that prohibits corporal punishment.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Attend trainings and meetings as required.
  1. Demonstrate ability and flexibility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  1. Actively promote the Head Start program and recruit families year-round.
  1. Perform any duty as assigned in order to meet or stay in compliance with state or federal regulations.
  1. Ensure compliance with Ohio Department of Education Preschool Rules and Regulations and Ohio Heartland Head Start Policies and Procedures.
  1. Transfer of site assignment when necessary for the operation of the program when management deems it appropriate.
  1. Adhere to all OHCAC Personnel and Procedures and all written agency policies.
  1. Video and audio recordings will be made during Head Start activities and observations and will be used for public relations, professional development, training, and/or possible disciplinary action.
  1. Drug and Alcohol Testing to be conducted as required by OHCAC and Funding Source.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1.   The Janitorial Aide is accountable for the above functions to the Education Supervising Manager.

 

Requirements

1. High School Diploma or GED

2. Good oral, written, and computer skills preferred.

3. Must be able to work independently with initiative, creativity, without constant supervision, and confidentiality.

4. Must be flexible, able to work with a diverse population, and have good organizational skills.

5. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License or be able to obtain one before the first day of employment, carry vehicle insurance, and have ready access to a drivable vehicle. Must be willing to travel within all four counties and use personal car for work-related errands including transport of food.

6. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals preferred.

7. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and/or percentage preferred.

8. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

9. Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear; and smell.  The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to move quickly to retrieve a running child.

10. The employee is occasionally required to climb or to balance.

11. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

12. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

13. Must be able to clearly see the entire classroom.

14. Must pass the requirements of the insurance company in regards to age (18) and driving record.

15. Must show courtesy and respect to staff and customers at all times. 

 

Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission has in effect a clean air/smoking/tobacco use policy which prohibits smoking or use of tobacco products in all offices and on or in any agency owned or agency occupied properties or vehicles. This policy applies to ALL Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission staff, regardless of program.

Summary

 

Perform scheduled general cleaning duties thoroughly throughout the building on a daily basis as well as Buffing and Waxing of the Building Floors as assigned by Supervisor.
