Janitorial & Maintenance Associate

Location: Knox, Indiana

Pay: Competitive hourly wage based on experience and maintenance skills

Schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week.

Primarily daytime hours
Weekend availability may be required
Consistent weekly schedule
Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and self-motivated Janitorial & Maintenance Associate to help maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for our customers and employees. This position is responsible for routine cleaning duties, minor building repairs, preventative maintenance, commercial floor care, and general upkeep of the store, offices, stockrooms, and surrounding property.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works independently, and has the ability to identify and address maintenance and cleanliness needs throughout the facility. Experience with commercial VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile) flooring is highly desirable but not required, as this role will assist with flooring repairs and periodic floor replacement projects throughout the store.

Key Responsibilities
Janitorial Duties
Clean and sanitize restrooms
Sweep, mop, and maintain sales floors and entryways
Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
Clean windows, doors, and other high-touch surfaces
Maintain offices, break rooms, stockrooms, and employee areas
Assist with seasonal and deep-cleaning projects

Maintenance Duties
Perform minor building repairs and preventative maintenance
Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and basic fixtures
Assist with minor plumbing and maintenance issues
Repair and maintain shelving, carts, displays, and store equipment
Remove and replace damaged commercial VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile) flooring as needed
Assist with larger floor renovation projects, including removal, preparation, installation, and finishing of VCT flooring
Maintain the appearance and safety of store flooring throughout the facility
Report major maintenance concerns and coordinate with vendors or contractors as directed

Exterior & Property Maintenance
Maintain sidewalks, entrances, and exterior grounds
Assist with seasonal snow and ice removal
Help maintain a safe environment for customers and employees

Safety & Sanitation
Follow all company sanitation and safety procedures
Promptly address spills and potential safety hazards
Properly use and store cleaning supplies and equipment
Help maintain a safe and professional shopping environment

Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Previous janitorial, custodial, maintenance, handyman, or facilities experience
Experience working with commercial VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile) flooring strongly preferred
Ability to remove, replace, and repair damaged floor tiles
Experience with commercial floor maintenance, including stripping, waxing, and floor care procedures, is a plus
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques
Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools

Skills & Requirements
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and perform physical work throughout the day
Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, professional facility
Valid driver's license preferred
