Job Summary
The Janitorial Staff are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and employees across all public areas at Grandfather Mountain. This role is essential in supporting the organization’s commitment to exceptional visitor experiences and environmental stewardship.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must have reliable transportation
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
- Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, visitor centers and other facilities
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors in high-traffic areas
- Empty trash and recycling bins; ensure proper waste disposal practices
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Clean windows, doors, and high-touch surfaces regularly
- Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, including walkways and viewing spaces
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs promptly
- Follow all safety procedures and cleaning protocols, including use of cleaning chemicals
Work Environment
- Combination of indoor facilities and outdoor natural areas
- Exposure to weather conditions typical of mountainous environments
- Interaction with visitors in a high-traffic tourist destination
