Position: Full-Time, 181 Day Contract
Pinckney Community Schools seeks a dynamic, dedicated, and visionary educator to serve as the Art Teacher for Country and Farley Hill Elementary Schools. Pinckney is in Livingston County, known for its suburban-rural mix and a draw for nature lovers with its parks, lakes, and trails. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cultivating student success, supporting teachers, and creating a welcoming environment for students, staff, and families.
Position Overview:
The Art teacher will work closely with the district leadership team, teachers, support staff, parents, and the community to promote the mission and vision of Pinckney Community Schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the development and implementation of art curriculum that support the academic success and well-being of all students.
- Create a positive and safe classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and high standards of behavior.
- Foster strong relationships with parents, community members, and other stakeholders to ensure active involvement and collaboration in the educational process.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and educational standards.
- Lead school improvement planning and data-driven decision-making to continuously improve student outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Art Education or Virtual Arts Education (LQ/LX/LZ).
- Ability to design and facilitate lessons and activities with clear standards-aligned learning targets and success criteria as well as ability to connect lessons to real world applications.
- Ability to effectively assess student learning, implement strategies for student engagement, and promote student ownership of learning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy and art content.
- Demonstrated proficiency in establishing a safe, collaborative classroom environment and culture which promotes success for all students.
- Ability to develop and maintain appropriate relationships and rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability and proficiency in professional collaboration and communication.
- Demonstrated proficiency in usage and application of technology, preferably the Google platform.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, assessment practices, and best practices for elementary education.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Ability to analyze data and use evidence-based practices to drive decision-making.
Preferred
- Additional endorsement area at the grade K-8 level.
- Previous teaching experience at the K-12 level.
- Experience with project-based or deeper learning principles and practices.
