Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Columbus City School District is accepting applications for the position of Reading Intervention Teacher. This role requires the individual to provide direct intervention to students utilizing intervention tools that are supported district-wide. The individual selected is responsible for providing instruction that aligns with the instructional goals of the district and aligned to the Science of Reading.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

·       Provide direct intervention to students utilizing district supported intervention tools aligned to the Science of Reading.

·       Ability to analyze and utilize district, building, and student data to make informed decisions.

·       Collaborates with the school staff to plan scheduling for student intervention.

·       Tracks student success data and generates reports to share with teachers and administration.

·       Analyze and promote the use of assessment data for instructional planning, student achievement and school improvement.

·       Participate in ongoing professional development provided by Curriculum and Instruction Literacy Department and required professional development including but not limited to: Fundations/Just Words, LETRS, and other district-adopted curriculum.

·       Provide effective, evidence-based methodologies and practices aligned to the Science of Reading and supported district-wide intervention tools.

·       Collaborates with staff during TBTs and provides updates to the staff on student progress.

·       Communicates with teachers and parents regarding the progress of students.

·       Performs all other duties as assigned by CCS Administration that are permissible under federal grant guidelines.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Valid Ohio Teaching certification/licensure:

·       Elementary (1-8), Kindergarten-Elementary (K-8 Pre-K-3; K-3, 4-9)

·       Three years of teaching experience preferred.

·       Experience with and knowledge of state standards, instructional pedagogy, Science of Reading, and district supported instruction and intervention strategies. 

·       Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with the administrative team, staff, students, and parents.

·       Ability to analyze and report student data in order to monitor the effectiveness of interventions.

·       Knowledge of State initiatives, mandates, and requirements including the Science of Reading, Dyslexia Screening and Intervention and ODEW RIMP requirements.

·       Sophisticated sense of how to use multiple data sources to diagnose and intervene to address and improve student academic needs.

·       Strong skills in reading/literacy pedagogy, content and strategies.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

·       Ability to work with students of all ability levels and backgrounds.

·       Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff and community.

·       Ability to provide a supportive role to administration and succeed in a team environment.

·       Ability to motivate, excite and engage students and parents.

·       Proficient with Microsoft Office/Excel for purposes of tracking data.

·       Demonstrated success in working with low performing students.

·       Experience with tracking data and adjusting interventions based on data and feedback.
