We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to work at our processing facility, conducting sampling and laboratory analysis on waste sample for such purposes as to determine safe handling and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with all government regulations.  We are looking for team members with attention to detail and willingness to learn! 

This position is physical in nature and may involve: walking, standing, climbing, bending, lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling.  May include working with: chemicals & environmental contaminants, heat & cold in outdoor environments, noise, and fumes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct sampling and perform laboratory analysis on waste sample for such purposes as to determine safe handling and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with all government regulations and company standard operating procedures.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze pre-shipment samples of hazardous waste to determine acceptability of waste. 
  • Analyze samples of incoming waste for basic parameters to confirm identity of waste following prescribed procedures in facility Waste Analysis Plan 
  • Ensure that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines 
  • Complete all paperwork associated with analysis 
  • Record all results in electronic database 
  • Assists laboratory manager with preparation of reports for off specification materials and manifest discrepancies 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in environmental technology, chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • 0-3 years of work with hazardous chemicals, including experience with handling and disposing of hazardous materials, knowledge of lab safety procedures. 
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and wear personal protective equipment, including respirator.
  • 24 or 40 Hour Hazwoper training, DOT Training, and on the job training will be provided, but prior training or knowledge preferred.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing.
