Job Description
Supervises and takes part in the operation of an electric meter shop, meter lab and field support.
What you will do
- Supervises electric meter personnel and takes part in testing and repairing of electricity meters, electricity standards, and associated electromechanical or electronic metering equipment, AMI meters and associated equipment and service control equipment in the meter shop and meter lab; responsible for meter shop test records and reports.
- Maintains shop testing equipment and apparatus; maintains stock of meters and repair parts for meter shop.
- Responsible for adhering to work schedules and to follow up on discrepancies as required.
- Works with other departments as it relates to metering communications and data acquisition.
- Assists with the training of employees engaged in above work.
- Works with company personnel as required on matters pertaining to metering and service equipment availability and applications.
- Performs all work according to company practices and procedures.
- Performs other duties, which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
Required Experience
- Completion of the Electric Meter Technician apprenticeship and pass the final position qualification examination
- 3 years' experience in more advanced metering work
- 2 years technical experience in high end metering work
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- An understanding of all electric meter software programs and associated programming devices.
- Satisfactory completion of an advanced course in metering and completion of the company's examination for metering work
- Knowledge of state and local regulations and company policies pertaining to metering and related work.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise others
- Knowledge of company's rates and electric service rules.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
