The Lead Facility Technician supports maintenance and repair of facilities, systems, and equipment, supporting daily operations across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical components to ensure optimal efficiency and timely completion of work.  This role includes executing preventative updates, performing as-needed repairs, and coordinating with external vendors in a biorepository and biotechnology environment. Prior experience with instrumentation or lab equipment preferred.  Great opportunity to transfer facilities work into a career in biotech supporting lab and biorepository operations.

  • Facility Maintenance and System Oversight: Lead the oversight, monitoring, and execution of preventative maintenance and repairs on facilities systems, including advanced maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration systems supporting temperature-controlled environments (e.g., biorepository storage units, cold rooms, and environmental management systems). Collaborate with external vendors for preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Work Order and Repair Coordination: Receive and fulfill work orders and service calls, applying advanced judgment to triage and prioritize critical repairs while coordinating with internal teams and external technicians.
  • Troubleshooting and Inspections: Lead troubleshooting of complex issues, perform advanced repairs, and conduct regular and special inspections to identify and address required maintenance.
  • Equipment Installation and Relocation: Oversee installation and relocation of office, lab, and repository equipment; dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment using drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Continuous Improvement and Safety Compliance: Support facilities projects, collaborate with management on schedules and layouts, update SOPs, promote safety standards, and maintain accurate documentation across facility and records systems.
  • High School Diploma and 5+ years’ experience or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead facility maintenance activities, coordinate repairs, and apply judgment in a hands-on operational environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate work with internal teams and external technicians.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and facility management systems, including documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Experienced facilities lead with strong communications skills and able to work independently.
  • Strong commitment to safety standards and maintaining a clean, compliant work environment.
  • Preferred: Strong HVAC and refrigeration knowledge supporting regulated or temperature-controlled environments.

The expected salary range for this position is $85,000 to $90,000 annually.
