Recovery Specialist
Program/Location: Women's Addiction Treatment Center - CSS Unit / New Bedford, MA
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Pay range: $21-27/hr
Status: Full time
Shift: Tuesday-Saturday. Fridays & Saturdays are required.

Lead Recovery Specialist Requirements
- Must always present as courteous and professional
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion
- Proficient and knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPAO`s electronic medical records
- Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner
- An understanding of the relationship between substance use and mental health issues and/or self-help programs
- Understand and maintain appropriate boundaries and ethics
- Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Substance Abuse Confidentiality Regulations and HIPAA Regulations
- Certification in the HPAO approved de-escalation program
- CPR Certification

Lead Recovery Specialist Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs and ensures completion of staff training, orientation for Recovery Specialists on staff;
- Provides assistance to Recovery Specialist Supervisor / Program Director in all areas of recruitment and onboarding of Recovery Specialist staff, when requested
- Provides assistance to leadership in facilitating the monthly RS Meeting;
- Understanding emergency procedures and codes; participating in de-briefing meetings;
- Sets a professional, positive and therapeutic atmosphere for the milieu and acts as role model for other staff;
- Observation and accounting of patients/residents at all times insuring safety (hourly checks) as well as documentation;
- Monitoring and documenting compliance to wellness check policy with tracking log for camera review;
- Perform resident searches of rooms, property and person in a professional manner that adheres to company policy; (Include UDS, Breathalyzer, Hand Held Wand, etc.)
- Observe and document resident self-administration of medication;
- Train new staff to procedures and policies related to medication self-administration and other RS tasks;
- Attend all supervision, program, and staff meetings as directed by RS Supervisor, Site Director/Program Director or the Clinical Supervisor;
- Will assist program management with UKG task, as needed;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the RS Supervisor, Site Director/Program Director or the Clinical Supervisor.
Inpatient Services Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct recovery support services to inpatient patients
- Serves as a lead and role model for Recovery Specialist on the unit
- Promotes a safe, structured and therapeutic milieu
- Engage patients using trauma-informed, person centered, and recovery-oriented practices
- Encourage patients to participate in groups, treatment activities and unit routines
- Assist with onboarding and training new Recovery Specialists.
- Support staffing coverage and scheduling needs as assigned
- Collaborate with nursing, clinicians case management and medical providers when necessary
- Identify, prevent and de-escalate crisis situations using approved interventions
Lead Recovery Specialist Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED, preferred
- Minimum of one year experience in a leadership role, preferred
