Job Description

New Jersey Respiratory is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist to serve as a Team Lead within our New York ventilator program. This position serves as NJRA's primary on-site operational representative across our New York ventilator facilities, ensuring our clinical operations run efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and professionalism.

Working alongside our NY Regional Director, the Team Lead provides a consistent management presence within the buildings, oversees day-to-day operations, addresses operational concerns as they arise, and serves as a resource for facility staff and NJRA employees.

This is a hands-on leadership role. While the primary responsibility is operational oversight, the Team Lead is expected to remain clinically involved and be willing to assist with patient care whenever needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent on-site management presence throughout assigned New York ventilator units. Travel between multiple facilities throughout the workday as operational needs require.
  • Represent New Jersey Respiratory professionally and serve as the primary operational contact within the facilities.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure patient care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
  • Review physician orders to ensure accuracy and timely implementation.
  • Perform chart reviews to ensure documentation meets clinical and regulatory expectations.
  • Audit respiratory equipment and verify patients are utilizing appropriate equipment.
  • Perform and oversee equipment changes as needed.
  • Identify operational issues and work proactively to resolve them.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership regarding operational updates, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

Clinical Expectations

Although this is primarily an operational management position, the Team Lead is expected to remain an active clinician.

The successful candidate must be willing to assist with patient care, support staff during high-volume periods, and provide shift coverage when operational needs require. We are looking for someone who leads by example and understands that maintaining excellent patient care is everyone's responsibility.

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Flexible schedule based on operational needs.
  • Typical workdays are 8–10 hours, with occasional 12-hour shifts when operational needs require.
  • Candidates must be willing to work one shift every other weekend to maintain an active presence within the operation, support the clinical team, and ensure continuity of leadership across our ventilator units.
  • Additional schedule flexibility may be required based on staffing needs, operational priorities, or facility support.

Qualifications

  • Current Respiratory Therapist license in New York.
  • Experience caring for ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Strong organizational and operational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Professional communication skills and sound clinical judgment.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between multiple facilities throughout the day.
  • Previous leadership or operational experience is preferred.

Who Will Be Successful

The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, and highly visible within the facilities. They take ownership of operational challenges, build strong relationships with facility partners, and are comfortable balancing management responsibilities with clinical support. They understand that leadership is built through presence, accountability, and a willingness to step in wherever needed to ensure our patients and facilities receive exceptional service.
