The Legacy Team Pastor serves as a key relationship-builder and shepherd for some of the church's most engaged and committed families. This role provides pastoral care, cultivates community, encourages spiritual growth, and helps individuals and families deepen their partnership in the mission of the church through discipleship, service, and generosity. Through strategic relationship-building, meaningful events, and personalized engagement, this leader helps create an environment where families feel known, valued, connected, and inspired to make an eternal impact.
What you will do
Provide pastoral care for our Legacy Team Families
● Build authentic relationships with individuals and families through regular personal connection, prayer, encouragement, and spiritual guidance.
● Serve as a trusted pastor and ministry leader who provides care during significant life events, celebrations, challenges, and times of need.
● Help families take meaningful next steps in their spiritual growth and discipleship journey.
● Foster an environment where members feel known, valued, cared for, and connected to the church community.
● Formulate and implement a strategy for relationship-building, growth, and development of “Legacy Team” with elders, staff pastors, and key church leaders.
● Create community and belonging for our Legacy Families, personally investing in their care and shepherding.

● Develop and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy that strengthens relationships between church leadership and Legacy Team families.
● Identify opportunities to increase participation, deepen commitment, and create pathways for ongoing spiritual growth.
● Collaborate with pastors, elders, and ministry leaders to ensure consistent communication and intentional care.
● Maintain a relational approach that prioritizes long-term trust, connection, and discipleship.
Drive deeper engagement in the church
● Help families discover meaningful opportunities to serve, lead, mentor, and participate in church ministries.
● Connect members with ministry initiatives, missions opportunities, and strategic church priorities that align with their passions and gifts.
● Encourage active involvement in the church's vision through discipleship, service, generosity, and community.
● Develop personalized engagement plans that help families move from participation to deeper partnership in ministry such as attending Return Gathering/Return Nights.
Plan and execute discipleship opportunities
● Create meaningful experiences that deepen relationships among key church families and strengthen their connection to the vision and mission of the church.
● Develop and execute a strategic annual engagement calendar that includes gatherings, retreats, trips, dinners, discipleship opportunities, and special events designed to foster community and spiritual growth.
● Ensure every event reflects the church's values and provides opportunities for meaningful spiritual conversations and pastoral connection.
Resources and educational opportunities
● Develop and coordinate educational seminars, workshops, and resources related to charitable giving, estate planning, financial stewardship, and legacy impact.
● Connect members with trusted professional resources when appropriate to support informed giving decisions.
● Ensure members have access to practical tools that help align their financial decisions with their faith and values.
What you have done
- Pastoral duties experience; including ability to teach/coach.
- MA in Biblical Studies (or equivalent), or MDiv preferred.
- MBA preferred, but not necessary.
- Financial background and work experience preferred (finance, personal finance, etc.).
- Ability to relate to key donors, high net-worth individuals, business owners.
- Natural at building trust and respect.
- Strong stage presence (leading large groups at events, on trips, etc.).
- Strategic and organized.

Saddleback Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity and budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. The estimated pay rate for this position is $110,000-$140,000 per year, depending on experience. We will provide a pay rate within our salary structure that fits a candidate’s qualifications and experience for the job. The posted wage range does not guarantee a specific job offer.
