Job Description

Location:              Brookings                                           

Grade:                   Full-Time; Non-Exempt                     

Core Schedule: Monday-Friday, Saturday rotation   

                                            

The Loan Specialist will be responsible for the preparation, accuracy, and review of loan documentation. This role requires strong communication skills, analytical abilities, and a passion for helping our customers achieve their financial goals.

 

The responsibilities listed below represent an overview of the position; additional duties may be assigned as business needs evolve.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review loan documentation to ensure all required documentation steps are accurately completed and compliant with established procedures.
  • Process loan transactions, including advances, paydowns, and transfers, while ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of loan fund disbursements.
  • Administer extensions of UCCs and CREMs and verify loan data within the core banking system to maintain accurate records.
  • Coordinate the ordering of real estate title work, appraisals, and other supporting documentation as required.
  • Maintain collateral and security files, ensuring proper organization and adherence to regulatory and compliance guidelines.
  • Manage workflow documentation by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of loan tickets, approvals, and disbursements within internal systems.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to business bankers by assisting with customer communication, correspondence, inquiries, file management, and reporting.
  • Remain current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to lending and loan servicing to support compliance and operational excellence.
  • Support front-line Customer Service Representative (CSR) team by participating in branch opening and closing procedures on a rotating schedule, as well as contributing to Saturday coverage to maintain consistent customer service availability.

 

Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all activities comply with federal and state regulations, including Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), and other applicable lending laws as needed in role.
  • Adhere to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information and follow all privacy and security guidelines.
  • Follow internal policies, procedures, and secondary market guidelines for loan processing and documentation.

Physical Requirements:

Intermittently remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and occasionally move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal noise.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience loan processing, or a related banking function required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
