Job Summary:
The Logistics Manager will serve as the primary owner of Echelon Supply and Service’s inbound and outbound freight programs, playing a critical role in managing carrier relationships, controlling freight costs, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all transportation activities. This position will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to optimize our freight network, drive cost savings, and maintain compliance with customs and trade requirements. The Logistics Manager will lead all domestic and international freight initiatives and will manage a direct report in the form of an Expeditor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage carrier, broker, and third-party logistics relationships; proactively address performance issues and service failures as they arise in both domestic and international settings
- Identify, develop, and negotiate cost-saving opportunities across inbound and outbound freight programs, including consolidation of outbound shipments to a single-source provider
- Consolidate import brokerage relationships to a single preferred firm while realizing measurable savings and service improvements
- Oversee customs and trade compliance activities, ensuring proper documentation, record-keeping, and adherence to all applicable regulations to support audits and regulatory inquiries
- Manage duty drawback processes and pursue clawback opportunities to recover applicable duties and fees
- Develop, implement, and maintain a domestic vendor inbound routing program to drive reduced inbound freight costs through lowest-cost carrier selection
- Lead the design and continuous improvement of the domestic freight network to optimize efficiency and cost performance
- Develop and maintain TMS (Transportation Management System) capabilities and vendor portal integration to improve freight visibility and data accuracy
- Develop and maintain regular reporting on key freight metrics, including:
- Inbound and outbound freight costs vs. prior year
- Outbound freight recovery rates
- Carrier performance metrics including damage rates, on-time delivery, and shipment accuracy
- Lead, develop, and manage a direct report (Expeditor), providing guidance, oversight, and performance feedback
- Partner cross-functionally with Purchasing, Operations, and Finance to align freight strategies with broader business objectives
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned by the Head of Supply Chain
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 3–5+ years of experience in logistics, freight management, or transportation coordination roles
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and carrier portal tools
- Working knowledge of customs and trade regulations, import/export compliance, and duty drawback processes
- Experience managing carrier and brokerage relationships across LTL, TL, and parcel modes
- Experience in managing international freight and import brokerage providers
- APICS, CLTD, or other relevant supply chain/logistics certification a plus
- Experience in industrial distribution, MRO, or B2B supply chain environments a plus
- Willingness to travel as needed to various sites within the network (<10%)

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Freight cost variance vs. prior year: target ≥ -5% (year-over-year cost reduction)
- On-time carrier delivery performance: target 95%+
- Outbound freight recovery rate: target 75%+
- Implementation and adoption of Vendor TMS Portal
