Position Summary: Responsible for the operation of fabrication equipment, set-up of prototype builds and any related production parts within the prototype facility.
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
- Run computer controlled equipment (Laser, Welder, Press Brake).
- Fabrication of prototypes and the production of parts.
- Meet production schedules and/or complete prototype runs including processing of parts, verification of part quality, packaging, and recording of finished parts.
- Responsible for fixturing, prototype build set-up, and adjustments on the 3-axis / 5-axis laser, weld cell, press, press brake, and mill.
- Coordinate with FARO operators in verifying process part quality which includes making demisional adjustments and modifying fixture set-ups when necessary.
- Perform aspects associated with equipment set-up and programming including pendant teaching, code writing, code modification, die set-up and any and all sharing of information with the off-line programming operator.
- Complete Prototype Requests and communicate with requesters regarding the status of their requests.
- Perform all necessary maintenance for the lasers including alignment of beam and head, cooling systems including filters, all troubleshooting, optics cleaning, lubrication, and required preventative and scheduled maintenance.
- Use standard fabrication equipment including drop saw, mill, MIG/TIG welding, air hand tools, drill press, shear, and hand held plasma cutter.
- Responsible for the safety of associates allowed to view the laser while it is operating.
- Read and interpret blueprints and CMM / FARO reports.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Facilitate preventative maintenance and repair work with internal vendors.
- Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the Leader.

- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with Microsoft Applications (e.g. word, excel, outlook, etc).
- Hi-Lo certification or ability to gain certification.
- Experience with all shop equipment including operating, troubleshooting, maintenance and programming of the laser, welder, press, press brake and mill.
