Job Title: Maintenance Assistant
FLSA Status: Part-time hourly
Reports to: Facility Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Assistant assists in the preventative maintenance routines for pools and facility, general janitorial work, painting, general carpentry, event set up, and snow removal associated with operations at Central YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Set up rooms with tables and chairs for events
- Perform housekeeping duties as necessary, including mopping, trash, and stocking supplies.
- Replace lightbulbs and assist in replacement of ballasts
- Replace air filters
- Paint walls, clean equipment and repair drywall
- Assist in pool operations, including testing chemicals, filling water, monitor status of pool equipment
- Assist in plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, and other existing fixtures as needed
- Snow removal of stairs, ramps, and sidewalks
- Attend all training and in-services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six months or more of residential maintenance experience preferred (plumbing, electrical, drywall repair, painting, etc)
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
- Must safely operate all hand and power tools common to the construction industry.
- Must know and use all personal protective equipment necessary to safely do assigned work.
- Must work from ladders and scaffolding, as needed
- Training upon hire includes New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, BBP, Preventing Harassments, CPR/First Aid, and YMCA Leader certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
- Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
- Must work outdoors at times and in varied weather conditions.
- Must work with arms extended overhead frequently.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds.
