Job Description
This a PM position.
Shift: 5:45pm - 6:00 am, 2-2-3 schedule
 
Job Title:  Maintenance Mechanic 
 
Job Summary:  The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, including injection molding and thermal forming equipment.  All work will be done in compliance with OSHA safety rules and regulations. Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assure manufacturing machines and all utilities equipment function at top performance.
  • Preventive maintenancePerform regular inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and calibration of machinery and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. This involves following maintenance schedules and conducting routine checks on various components.
  • Troubleshooting and repair - diagnose equipment malfunctions and mechanical failures to identify the root cause of the problem. Carry out repairs or replacements of defective parts, such as motors, sensors, valves, belts, and bearings, to restore functionality.
  • Equipment installation and commissioning - Assist in the installation, setup, and testing of new machinery and production lines.
  • Responding to breakdowns - Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies that occur during production.
  • Safety inspections and compliance - Conduct safety inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Ensure plant safety and 5S housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Documentation and reportingMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and equipment manuals.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Plastic processing in any type of molding. 
  • Electrical ability to troubleshoot motor and control circuits.
  • Welding Skills for machine repair and minor fabrication.
  • Knowledge and application skills for lubrication and grease.
  • Lathe and Milling machine skills for minor repair and fabrication.
  • Continuous improvement supporter.
  • Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
 
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational school diploma highly preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing with a record of maintaining a variety of machines/equipment.
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience with electrical systems.
  • 1 to 2 years of injection molding maintenance.
  • Knowledge of injection molding machinery.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs, unassisted.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
 
This role is accountable for all aspects of department performance including safety & environmental, quality, reliability, production, and productivity.
