SCOPE & BASIC FUNCTION:
Manufacturing Technician II’s are an integral part of the production team. Their success is determined by the positive way in which they communicate, cooperate, interact and contribute towards achieving Woodstream’s goals and objectives.
Manufacturing Technician II’s are responsible for and capable of setting up tooling and equipment and optimizing equipment uptime anywhere in the plant. They are capable of responding rapidly to situations to meet production plans and service the requirements of our customers, not only in their primary area, but plant wide.
Manufacturing Technician II’s are responsible for quality, throughput and safety. They participate both as team members and team leaders in solving problems and implementing solutions to increase Woodstream’s manufacturing productivity
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regular attendance and punctuality required
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers in improving the performance of equipment and processes and participate in the implementation of ideas that reduce downtime and improve overall productivity.
- Assure equipment availability and readiness to meet the production schedule requirements and throughput rates for workcenters throughout the plant.
- Maintain uptime on all production equipment to meet throughput rates on a consistent and reliable basis.
- Diagnose machine problems quickly, perform effective troubleshooting of equipment, tools and process to maintain production of machinery. Provides technical support to others, as required.
- Complete set ups in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with all scheduled production requirements.
- Assure that spare parts are stocked and available for immediate use, to minimize downtime. Fabricates new parts from raw stock using machine tools when required.
- Records and maintains data on performance of equipment, tooling and processes in a concise, accurate method and communicates exceptions to other team members.
- Provides quality instruction, education and support to other Manufacturing Technicians and production operators.
- Demonstrates safety awareness and executes safety policies and procedures at all times. Ensures the safety of others by sharing of knowledge as it pertains to our facilities, equipment and employees.
- Maintains a safe and orderly work environment, wherever duties are performed.
- Assists in any/all other areas as directed, to meet the needs of Woodstream’s customers.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS:
- HSD / GED required.
- Additional training/education, up to and including a 2 year associates degree in a technical discipline.
- An understanding of intermediate math skills including geometry and trigonometry.
- Proficient with various measurement tools.
- Proficient with a variety of machining tools.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Has attained additional skills/proficiency in areas such as:
- Welding/Fabrication
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Electrical/Electronics
- PLC programming
- Set-up/troubleshooting, repair and maintenance experience in a machine based manufacturing environment.

FABRICATION/MECHANICAL:
- Ability to fabricate machine structures and support members.
- Ability to fabricate components for mounting of equipment, tooling, or devices.
- Ability to dismantle, rebuild, refurbish, or install equipment.
- Ability to read a variety of engineering and schematic drawings.
- Repair and lubricate machines.
- Has attained additional skills/proficiency in areas such as: Welding (tool steel, cast iron, aluminum), Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Electrical/Electronics
ELECTRO/MECHANICAL:
- Ensure that all production equipment is maintained in a state of electrical/mechanical readiness to respond to scheduling requirements.
- Troubleshoot any production equipment and/or facilities electrical malfunctions in an accurate and timely manner, and restore such equipment to a state of readiness as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
- Perform mechanical setups and changeovers as required.
- Install properly sized electrical services for new and relocated manufacturing equipment in a safe and compliant manner.
- Maintain a current working knowledge of Electrical Codes and Regulations, as they apply to the Woodstream facility and manufacturing equipment.
- High skill in reading and understanding electrical schematics and translating that knowledge to physical circuitry.
- Experience in PLC and PC ladder logic programming.,
