Job Description
Overview

A leader in the Infrastructure & Operations team, the Manager of Systems Operations, provides the planning, engineering, and delivery of scalable infrastructure solutions that comply with current best practices and technology standards. You’ll engage with business unit leaders and Information Technology teams to collaborate on solutions that drive our operational success.

 


Responsibilities

  • Manages and provides overall support and maintenance of infrastructure systems, and Manhattan WMOS environments.
  • Plans and allocates resources to effectively manage staff and achieve individual, team, and project productivity with quality and continuous improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor and measure team productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness.
  • Understands how their team / area of responsibility fits into the larger organization and actively works to strengthen those connections.
  • Evaluates and manages system performance daily to ensure adequate response times for production applications.
  • Establishes and documents procedures to ensure data integrity including system fail-over and backup/recovery.
  • Manage and oversee Manhattan WMOS environment including
    • Installation and deployment
    • SDN management
    • Troubleshooting and escalation
  • Manages backup and recovery including data retention and reporting
  • Manages routine hardware and software audits of servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines, and procedures.
  • Manages vendors and as necessary.
  • Manages current operating system and patch versions to comply with vendor and company requirements.
  • Performs research and development on new products, technologies, and operating systems as required.
  • Leads established ITIL activities, including Change Management, Release Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management.
  • Oversees and participates in the on-call rotation, providing off-hours support as required to perform necessary job functions and ensure service delivery.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops team members, providing them with appropriate skill building and career development opportunities.
  • Consciously fosters an engaging, collaborative, and respectful team culture that is consistent with the NFI’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Prepares periodic reports for management to track strategic goal accomplishment.
  • Actively builds and strengthens relationships with IT employees, other managers, directors, VPs, and other designated and/or relevant contacts within the organization.
  • Stays up to date with current trends and emerging technologies in their area of expertise, serving as a knowledgeable resource to all levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of security impacts of actions and adherence to company guidelines
    • Assist in development and modification of security guidelines
    • Act as advisor to internal and external customers on security issues
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the role and determined by management

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree strongly preferred, will consider comparable work experience
  • 5-7 years of Infrastructure experience with experience with Linux/Windows administration, microservices, and infrastructure monitoring
  • Experience with Manhattan WMOS infrastructure
  • Experience with Active Directory, Okta, and other identity
  • Experience with RedHat Openshift or other containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Solarwinds or other infrastructure monitoring platforms
  • Experience with datacenter equipment such as blade servers, SANs, and storage networking
  • Experience with Ansible, such as creating playbooks and maintaining an AWX environment
  • Experience with Puppet, such as creating modules and developing tests
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines with services such as GitHub or GitLab
  • Experience with cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or OCI.
  • Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
  • Experience with load balancers such as Citrix NetScaler or F5
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely explain technology solutions in business terms.
  • Certifications targeted in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, and other infrastructure vendors
  • Knowledge of infrastructure fundamentals, security best practices, and system hardening techniques.
  • Experience in other infrastructure technology domains such as networking, database, cloud, etc.
  • Learns quickly and makes steady progress without the need for constant significant feedback from more senior team members.
  • Effective team member on concurrent tasks/projects.
  • Ability to coach and be coached
  • Attention to service excellence and detail.
  • Excellent analytic, communication, and customer relation skills.

We are excited to share that the base salary range for this position is $128,827.14- $171,769.52.  This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, targeted at 3%.  NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location when determining a starting rate of pay.
