The Role:
The Manager of Literacy Intervention works closely with the Head of School and the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) in ensuring all of our scholars meet their end-of-year academic goals. They are experts in foundational literacy and targeted intervention across all content areas who use data to make strategic, meaningful decisions to drive achievement. The Manager of Literacy Intervention manages Associate Teachers to this end while also providing small groups and personalized support to students directly, especially our Multilingual Learners and Tier 3 scholars. They are relentless and innovative in how they achieve transformational growth with our students alongside the broader team.
Background on the Organization:
Circle City Schools is a small network of schools in Indianapolis, Indiana composed of ACE Prep (K-6) and Circle City Prep (K-8). Both campuses are committed to high expectations paired with high levels of support. We hold a deep belief that all scholars have immense potential and unique strengths. ACE Prep, serving grades K-6 in the Greater Broad Ripple area, was founded in 2016 and boasts a 90%+ IREAD pass rate in SY24 and SY25. While focused on academic rigor, ACE totes a small school environment where each child is seen and cared for. Circle City Prep, serving K-8 scholars on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis, was founded in 2017 and serves 90%+ low-income and 30%+ multilingual learners. For the last four years, Circle City Prep has been the highest performing public school in its community and focuses on a well-rounded school experience.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Manager of Literacy Intervention, you will:
Oversee Foundational Literacy Intervention (40%)
- Coach and manage Associate Teachers (Kindergarten - Grade 5) to ensure 100% of Scholars are achieving their individualized academic growth goals.
- Manage and lead Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic MTSS supports across Kindergarten - Grade 5.
- Manage outside partnerships centered around literacy and literacy intervention.
- Design and execute full-school, practice-based professional development, especially development related to in-class Tier 2 supports.
Provide Academic Intervention (50%)
- Work closely with the Special Populations Team (including Director of Special Education and Manager of Multilingual Learners ) to provide daily and weekly individual and small group interventions to targeted scholars.
- Complete and send home quarterly progress monitoring documentation.
- Leverage ILEARN Checkpoints, Acadience Reading, and Mock IREAD-3 assessments for progress monitoring and intervention plans.
- Design and model exemplary small group instruction aligned to progress monitoring data that Associate Teachers can replicate for strong intervention
- Support MLL Team in creating Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) based on WIDA ACCESS data and monitor fidelity of implementation
Additional duties (10%):
- Build strong relationships with parents, students, and colleagues, driving investment in school culture and academics through consistent, clear communication.
- Manage our school library, ensuring students have access to engaging, grade-level texts.
- Support annual WIDA ACCESS administration
- Provide coverage in classrooms as needed (part or full days).
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
To be considered as an Manager of Literacy Intervention, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
- Early Literacy Endorsement, required.
- Minimum of three years teaching experience with a track record of game-changing academic results
- Credentialing in Early Literacy Endorsement, training in Orton-Gillingham, and DIBELS administration is preferred
- Experience using Amplify, Science of Reading, LEAP, and/or Heggerty is preferred
- Fiercely positive, team player, and relentless about growing as a leader and coach
- Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is preferred.
- Belief in and alignment with Circle City School’s core values and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings, required
- Pass criminal background check, as required by law
