About this role

The Indianapolis manufacturing plant has an opportunity to become a key contributor to the overall Operations team.  In this role as a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll be responsible for troubleshooting, modifying, and acquiring equipment in a fast paced, high-volume manufacturing plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies, acting as the technical expert during unplanned events and drive implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and tooling issues; providing technical support to maintenance, tool room and production, as requested.

  • Recommend, specify and implement preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Plan, coordinate and implement repairs, modifications and improvements to equipment and tooling.

  • Ensure equipment is properly released to production after preventative maintenance or repairs.

  • Lead Kaizen events resulting in higher line output and greater efficiency.

  • Utilize maintenance and tooling management system, purchase order system and various other planning systems.

  • Innovate and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas for the operations team.

  • Model and promote adherence to OSHA regulations and Carrier environmental, health and safety policies and initiatives.

  • Fostering a positive working relationship with union representatives by adhering to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 2+ years of experience in Operations or Engineering

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within a fast paced manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with A/B Control Logix 5000, Siemens S7 PLC’s, various VFD motor controls. 

  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic controls. 

  • Automation and/or tooling troubleshooting experience preferred.

  • Energetic, hands-on; able to drive change and continuous improvement. 

  • Experience applying Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing principles. 

  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with production employees, peers and manufacturing management.

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and direction. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Experience in a union environment is preferred. 

  • Strong computer and system skills, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
