Job Overview:
The Mechanical Designer/Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise in the development of emergency response equipment and fire apparatus.  This role involves designing, developing, and coordinating the production of heavy-duty firefighting systems through to completion.  They will work as a member of an engineer team and must be able to communicate well with the sales and production departments to ensure all equipment is built to the customer’s specifications and industry standards.  They must have strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. 
 
Job Responsibilities:
•    Create and revise 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings
•    Develop fabrication, manufacturing, and installation drawings
•    Collaborate with production, sales, and project management teams to ensure designs meet customer and manufacturing requirements
•    Review specifications, codes, and standards applicable to projects
•    Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
•    Assist with product development, design improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives
•    Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting activities
•    Perform design calculations and technical evaluations as required
•    Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control
•    Provide technical support to internal departments and customers


Qualifications:
•    High school diploma or equivalent
•    Associate degree, technical certification, trade school training, or equivalent experience preferred
•    3+ years of design, drafting, manufacturing, or related technical experience and standards 
•    Proficiency with CAD software - SolidWorks
•    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
•    Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
•    Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and materials
•    Effective communication and teamwork skills


Engineering/Design Experience Preferred:
•    Familiarity with ASME, NFPA, ANSI, or other applicable industry standards
•    Experience with industrial equipment, fire protection systems, pumps, piping, sheetmetal, or mechanical equipment design
