GENERAL FUNCTION


 



  • Provides billing health services and case management for students enrolled in the special education program with medical assistance.

  • The Medical Assistance Accounting Associate (MAAA) will have the responsibility for reviewing eligibility of students with disabilities for Medical Assistance and submitting completed, compliant billing claims for eligible students.


 


 


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of two (2) years general office experience with medical assistance billing preferred. Applicable post-secondary training may be accepted in lieu of experience.

  • General knowledge of medical assistance billing practices, bookkeeping terminology, methods, procedures and equipment.

  • General knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.

  • General knowledge of accounting principles and related data processing systems.

  • Understanding of Follett X2 Aspen student database and special education processes and reports.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, One Drive and word processing programs.

  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced school environment.

  • Ability to independently meet scheduled and unexpected deadlines while ensuring comliance with special education requirements.

  • Ability to perform all tasks with accuracy, attention to detail, and a high degree of professionalism. 

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling student educational records and personally identifiable information.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with with special education staff, administrators, school personnel, and central office staff.


RESPONSIBILITIES


 



  • Assist with scheduling IEP meetings, tracking compliance deadlines, preparing meeting materials, and ensuring required documentation is completed and distributed.

  • Maintain Metro database of student entries, withdrawals, transfers, IEP and reevaluation information and other appropriate fields through data entry as directed by case managers.

  • Access the EVS system monthly to determine medical assistance eligibility for each special education student.

  • Provide case managers with monthly medical services record forms for billing purposes.

  • Assist with student records and Medical Assistance files in a confidential manner.

  • Timely and accurate data entry of medical assistance claims and verification that all application fields on billing forms are complete.

  • Timely and accurate printing and reviewing of Medicaid edit reports and monthly service records along with research and resubmission of denied claims.

  • Assist case managers with printing of IEPs, as needed.

  • Serve as liaison between special education staff at assigned school(s) and finance staff regarding MA.

  • Performs related work as required.

  • Other duties as assigned
