Job description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Home Health office team in Oxnard. This position is office-based and focuses on administrative and clinical support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Position Summary
The medical assistant provides non-clinical support to patients, clinical staff, and providers by facilitating various clerical and administrative tasks, depending on department assigned. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: triage incoming calls, update and verify patient demographics, verify insurance eligibility, schedule new and missed appointments, order patient supplies, etc. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Responsibilities
- Performs administrative, clerical, and operational tasks
- Provides excellent customer service to providers and patients
- Ensures correct demographic information is on file
- Schedules appointments
- Collects necessary forms and information prior to the start of a patient's care
- Verifies insurance eligibility
- Verify necessary documentation within a patient's chart
- Follow up with pending items and tasks
- Answer and triage incoming calls
- Checks tasks and messages for daily action items from providers
- Order medical supplies
- Other duties as assigned
Schedule
Monday- Friday 9:00AM-5:30PM
Requirements
A qualified candidate should have the following skills/experience:
- Must have a valid MA certification
- Work in any healthcare setting
- Be familiar with common front office duties (registering patient accounts, scheduling appointments, general customer service, etc.)
- Experience with verifying insurance coverage for HMO, PPO, Medi-Cal, Medicare plan
- Be familiar with navigating an EMR system
- Have great customer service
- Order medical supplies
- Be outgoing and energetic and enjoy working at a busy office
- Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
