Job Description
Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant provides support in the clinical and office functions of the department.  Duties include direct patient contact, maintaining office systems, and providing assistance in various clinical functions and procedures.  Provides clerical support to staff and performs other job-related duties as may be required.



Duties & Responsibilities:

1.    Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
2.    Assists with direct patient care, demonstrating maturity and discretion in dealing with terminally ill patients.
3.    Provides clinical support to patients and staff.
4.    Provides office support, including typing, scheduling and processing forms.
5.    Monitors clinical equipment and supplies.
6.    Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
7.    Performs other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.



Requirements:

Must have completed certification as a Medical Assistant.
CPR Certification required.

Knowledge of medical terminology, computer competency, knowledge of transcription, and strong typing skills needed.  
Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills and demonstrated maturity to work with terminally ill patients.  
Proficiency in the English language and flexibility in hours needed for possible weekends and evenings.
