The Medical Assistant will join a busy pediatrics outpatient clinic.
Job Duties Include: Room patient, obtain vital signs, patient history, medication history, and reason for seeking care. Document histories accordingly in electronic medical records (EMR). Assist physicians or other healthcare team members with treatment. Administer and properly record childhood vaccinations. Perform various clerical and lab duties, which include: in-house labs, completing patient forms, assisting with referrals, completing medication prior authorizations, and refilling prescriptions under physicians' guidance.
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, to perform clinical procedures to prepare patients and/or research participants for treatment or research protocol. To assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol. To perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and/or protocol. May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric.
Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00
LOCATED IN HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA.
High School diploma or GED required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
Preferred:
- Hard Skills: Experience working with patients ranging from newborns to early teens in an outpatient setting preferred; Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), taking vital signs, and administering vaccinations preferred.
- Soft Skills: Detail oriented; strong customer service skills; excellent communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring ability to prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly; team player.
