The Kent County Health Department is seeking qualified Medical Assistant candidates to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide WIC and Immunization services within the Community Clinical Services Division.

As a WIC and Immunization Program Medical Assistant, you will:
  • Perform routine clinical procedures
  • Verify eligibility for program services
  • Schedule appointments and complete client registration
  • Collect and record anthropometric measurements
  • Obtain capillary and venous blood samples
  • Provide immunization support services
  • Enter and maintain accurate client data
  • Deliver general clerical and administrative support
Work Schedule: 
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • No weekends, nights, or holidays 
  • Required to work from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and Certification as a Medical Assistant by AAMA or registered as a Medical Assistant by the AMT. State of Michigan Certification as a Medical Assistant required.  

Working knowledge of routine clinical procedures and experience in venipuncture and specimen collection required. Computer literacy, including Word, spreadsheets, and database management, is required. Experience with electronic medical records. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, and the ability to be highly efficient while maintaining attention to detail are required. 

Must interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers, and members of the general public from widely different backgrounds. The ability to provide client service from a culturally aware and client-driven perspective and deliver excellent customer service to all clients while following HIPAA guidelines is essential. Must be able to provide services to clients in a variety of County locations, possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license, and have access to regular transportation. 

 *Experience working with maternal, infant, and child populations is desired for applicants of the WIC and Immunization Program.
