The Part-Time Medical Assistant provides essential clinical and administrative support to physicians, patients, and office staff in a fast-paced podiatry practice. This role assists with patient care, in-office procedures, and day-to-day clinic operations while helping ensure an exceptional patient experience.
This position is based primarily in Dunn, NC and is expected to work a minimum of two days per week in the Dunn office. Additional hours and travel may be required to support operational needs at surrounding locations, including Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest.
Medical Assistant Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures
- Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
- Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting)
- Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
- Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed
- Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
- Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
- Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Travel to other clinic locations to provide coverage and support as needed
Medical Assistant Required Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience
- CMA or RMA certification preferred
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinic environment
- Detail-oriented, professional, and patient-focused
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple clinic locations, including Dunn, Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest, as needed
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
