Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- must be 18 years or older
- Must be enrolled in the Medical Assistant training program
- Enrollment in or recently accepted into a Medical Assistant training program
- Basic computer skills, Word, and Excel required
- Basic Life Support certification
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred
Summary
Medical Assistant Trainee
Clinical Support (Under Supervision):
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visits
- Obtain and record vital signs and patient history
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
- Prepare and maintain clean, stocked exam rooms
- Perform basic clinical tasks as trained (e.g., EKGs, injections, lab prep – as permitted by clinic policy)
- Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines
Front Office & Administrative Support:
- Greet patients and assist with check-in and check-out
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
- Answer phones and route messages appropriately
- Update electronic health records accurate
- Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and basic billing tasks as trained
