Job Description

Please note that this position is per diem, meaning there will be no guaranteed hours - the estimate is between 0-8 hours per week.

 

Position Summary:

The Medical Mobile Unit Driver is responsible for pick-up of the Medical Mobile Unit from storage parking. Transport medical staff to designated area in a safe and timely manner as the schedule warrants. Maintain Medical Mobile Unit cleanliness and keep in optimum working order as warranted by owner’s manuals. Complete daily log for unit. Responsible for set-up and breakdown of required materials, safety of parked vehicles, and monitors all fluids levels.

 

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Supports outreach and community events as needed including weekends.
  • Reviews supplies request orders to maintain an adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Performs any other job- related duties as needed, assigned, or requested.
  • Provide excellent customer service and be able to communicate effectively with internal and external personnel.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
  • Keep track of Mobile Unit routine maintenance, schedule appointment with mechanic and maintains appropriate maintenance logs.
  • Performs weekly Mobile Unit refueling, grey and black water dumping.
  • Communicate with management when repairs are needed for the Mobile Unit.
  • Arrives on time a site, sets up and breakdown tables chairs, and canopies as needed.
  • Perform daily pre trip inspection when driving Mobile Unit.

  • Manages the process of the cash/receipt for any authorizations to release information.
  • Complete and submit any logs pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the Mobile Unit.

 

Job Requirements


Education Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

 

Certifications/Licenses Required:

Valid California class B Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement, and proof of current insurance.

 

Experience Required:

Clean driving record. Over 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years of experience driving a Mobile Unit, bus, truck or vehicle of comparable size and length preferred.

 

Verbal and Written Skills Required to perform the Job:

Applicant must be fluent in verbal and written English

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:

Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills required. Medical Records office procedures preferred. Must type 35 wpm. Ability to proficiently maneuver through all electronic applications used for job.

 

Equipment Used:

30 to 38 ft Medical Mobile Unit, sanitary system, diesel or gas generator, microwave, refrigerator, television, VCR, laptop, fax, copier, and other office equipment.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

May be required to work evenings and/or weekends. Physical activities include prolonged periods of sitting. Frequent standing and walking.

Occasional lifting approximately 20 to 30 pounds. Driving of personal vehicle and Healthy Steps Medical Unit.

 

Universal Requirements:

Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
